A Fresh New Transformation

I’m a strong believer in reinventing yourself. Every 5 or so years I like to shake things up, explore a different path, try out new hobbies, even completely transform my body. Over the years, I’ve undergone multiple transformations. Minor ones like changing my hair and major events like trying a new career and a cross country relocation.

As another birthday recently passed by, I want to embark on a fresh new transformation. The one thing that hinders my transformation is that I’m a proud introvert.  Although my motto is, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing,” by Hellen Keller; I end up adventuring either alone or with my close circle (my bestie, my 2 dogs and Jeremy).  I’m also a homebody. I love me some sofa, throw pillows, a comforter, a good book or a bingeable tv series. But the inner adventurer in me is screaming for something FUN, different and out of my comfort zone. I’m itching for an adventure big or small.

I’ve been thinking through ideas to get me out of my introverted shell, off my cozy coach, and right at the edge of my comfort zone.  So, I decide to take on a 10 class challenge. Over the next year I’ll choose 10 new hobbies to try 10 times. Hobbies push me out of my box, bring me around new people and ideas, or get me moving a unique way.  In taking these ten classes, the goal is to meet at least 1 new person every session and share the uncomfortable, liberating, challenging and hopefully transformative journey with you.

Ideas for new hobbies:

  • Fishing
  • Noodling
  • Biking
  • Boating
  • Scuba diving and snorkeling
  • Hot air ballooning, flying, and gliding
  • Capoeria
  • Hiking
  • Running marathons
  • Mountain climbing
  • Camping
  • Horseback riding
  • Skiing or snowboarding
  • Dancing
  • Swimming
  • Riding roller coasters
  • Traveling
  • Soccer
  • Doing triathlons
  • Geo-caching
  • Surfing and windsurfing
  • Walking with the homeless
